I’m looking to replace my Volvo EC18C

Anyone had any experience of the Sany SY20C https://www.sanyuk.com/sy20c/

I’m torn between the Sany that looks really well specced and nicely powered at a very good price or just replace with another Volvo EC18E as I’ve had very good service out of my EC18C
There is a big saving with the Sany and it comes well specced .
I looked at Volvo EC 20E that looks a good option as well with 35mm pins and heavier arm but it’s way too dear.
18E does have a heavier counterweight option that looks a good idea but waiting on price back for that .
Anyone had any experience of the Sany ? I’m definitley leaning more towards it just now .
I would go for 4 pipe aux so I can use it for occasional tilt rotator use as well . Either option I’m going for steel tracks .

What have they priced a sany sy20c at? I agree I liked the Volvo ec20 when I was looking but couldn't really see the justification in the hefty price. Had a go in one and it was the short dipper but really short- felt wrong tbh

Price is not finalised yet as trade in to be considered , I will let you know though when deals done
Yes but how much do they want for each machine?

The first thing I noticed on the sany is that it only goes down to 1040mm, not 990mm.

If you are wanting to run a tilty I’d definitely be looking for short dipper- which Chinese brands don’t seem to offer as far as I know.

Any other brands you’re considering? Guessing dealers a bit spread out where you are.

I agree short dippers are great and love the one on my Wacker but the Volvo one on the EC20 is very short and because the boom is quite large it's quite badly missmatched when in use. kinda like the arms on a T-rex!

Sany price to follow

Yes the Sany track frame is wider but it is a 20 not 18 so it’s bound to be a wee bit wider.
The Sany do only offer one size dipper but it doesn’t look that long in the pics . Engcon use would be occasional as it will predominantly stay on the kubota . The Sany has more powerful engine.

I’d look at any other dealers with something to offer . Especially recommended on here . Volvo dealers very local and also JCB but I’m not a fan of the yellow perils . I’m happy to travel to buy what I want though .

my liugong 9018 is coming up to 3 years old, not been a spot of bother. its quick, smooth, powerful and comfy to sit in. 2 fully adjustable aux circuits on joystick switches plus hyd qh lines are standard. if you've someone local selling them go have a play. personally never taken to the sanys but admittedly have driven a smaller one

I don't wish to sound like a fanboy but I'd honestly look at the Wacker ET20. 2.2 ton longer track base, beefy undercarriage, good reach, decent sized engine, hydraulic output, smooth, will go down under a meter, short dipper option, spacious floor/cab,ergonomic track pedals, will run 3 ton buckets fine probs so works well if sharing with your Kubota 027, large track motors and slew looks bigger than most 2 ton. the only downside I've found is the grammar seat isn't the comfiest it's a bit hard for my liking- but then thing the same seat lots of towable sized diggers use...

I paid £25k for mine bare stick with hyd hitch circuit and twin auxiliarys on joysticks.

That’s mega money for the ec20. Ask them why they think it’s worth 6k more than the ec18?

Cat were doing 2023 302CR models for £23k recently.

I did , l liked the idea of the 20 , more powerful hydraulics and slightly bigger pins and bushes etc but he said it’s more in the league of the ecr25 hence the price difference and the 18 is the hire special they sell so many the price is cheaper . The 20is way too dear so it’s ruled out . Who makes the Cat minis ?

Cat makes their own minis now. In china which makes them good value. Wacker used to make them for them. I did try a cat 302, well specced machine but seemed low ground clearance to me, isn't conventional tail swing and little things like the ram which expands the tracks isn't guarded well so any rocks get under there it won't take long to make a mess of it.

How did you find the 302 to operate?

It’s more expensive than plenty of brands 2.7t machines. Tell them to give their head a wobble! Cat 2.7t is 31.5k, so is bobcat e27z now. JCB, yanmar, develon- all sub 30k.

A hire special 1.8t from other mainstream manufacturers is more like 18k.

And I thought bobcat tried to take the piss!

I couldn't understand it either, £29k bare stick Volvo quoted me. Nice enough machine but nothing special tbh.

Totally agree, I had the same quote from Volvo 22k for 1.8 basic canopy machine, pointed out it was nearly the price of a nice cabbed machine and he didn't reply.

I tried a 301.7 thought it was a very nice drive and got some good features too.

The price I had for the 302 was 25750 with twin aux, hydraulic hitch and 3 buckets.
