Those of you that are involved in selling topsoil can you advise how you measure/weight for selling on.

Have the chance to send a lot of soil to the farm and stockpile for resale. Just looking at the practically of how to sell on. If it happens I expect to have the 8ton machine back at the farm to load and would need to get a tipper.

So you already have a cost to haul it to where your going to stock pile it.

You either sell it on cheap with a you load and per load rate based on lorry size.

Or you sit on it n put a price per ton and bugger about loading it on to a transit, trailer, dump trailer or any form of lorry Inbetween and they will want it now.

Also depending who wants it and for what, they will want it tested.

I'm currently paying £4 pt screened untested. Less if you have more.

If it comes to me, it will be because the haulage to me is covered by the client, it will be cheaper for him than the other options!!

OK, so I suppose the next thing is whether you need to shift it fast or slowly.

If there's no rush and you've a machine to load then you can charge more. Ie transit truck at 25 per ton.

If you want it gone faster then a test on it then ring round your local hauliers to offer it.

Depending on quantity they may send their own machine to load too

However they will want to pay lot less.

I used to do a fair bit with jcb where they'd buy top soil cheap and then pay me to load their lorries as that was part of the deal.
