Might bring their prices inline with proper wholesalers lol

Some of their stuff is fairly priced. I was looking at the Makita twin 36v 9in disk cutter. Everywhere including screwfix is the same price. This now puts it 40 quid cheaper than anywhere else

Because they want your data

They collect your data anyway if you give them your address. I would think it's more to do with "streamlining" the process or more specifically how can they further reduce staff in store and even start to reduce the order points.
It's essentially a self service checkout but their setup means they don't even have to have hardware.

Not really though as they are two separate things. Yes they want to harvest your data for marketing and the app will help with that but moreso if they can push everyone to the app they can remove staff on the ground.
There are nearly 900 screwfix stores. If each store dropped one employee from the till, then supposing the average salary is ยฃ24891 according to Google then the saving is just under 22.5 million pounds a year.

Can't be long before Screwfix is merely a hole in the wall collection point fully automated.
App will harvest more data than website though...think location etc etc . Look at permissions.

if it all goes app. they'll lose my limited trade and thousand of others .... not everyone wants their info. on their phone :unsure:;)

I usually order & pay on line and either collect, if it's odds an' sods, or they can deliver it for free and save me the 10 mile drive :giggle:

I always used to have no luck with Toolstation and preferred screwfix. Definitely gone the other way the last few years, always go to Toolstation first, especially as they have proper catalogues. Although I do use the website to check stock as well.
