hello.
I came onto this forum trying to find out information on starting a digger and dumper hire business and can only seem to find negative responses. I Have some minor experience (had a 1.7t kubota I hired out for a year as a member of the cpa)

My plan for a start was 4 minis u10s/17 4 dumpers tracked and high tip, rakes augers beakers. A good website. All done along side my tree surgery business however I fear I may be unrealistic and over hopeful about its potential. There are quite some small/medium companies offering the same service in my local area. I have spoken to a friend who manages one of the largest independent company’s ppc and have been advised that there lots of demand for small plant.

the hire industry really catches my interest I would very much like to start a business supplying the hire of a product If any one have any ideas or tips for a start up I would really appreciate it.

Thanks 🙏

Will you have time to be delivering collecting and picking up/righting rolled over kit or dealing with stupid customers while up a tree with a saw?

Does your tree business not currently keep you busy 5-6 days a week?

With interest rates up be a hefty monthly if kit not out on hire, 4 minis 4 dumpers a f attachment say £200k so what £2500 a month after £40-50k deposit

Good luck with it but I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. Have done good theft protection policies not only trackers but deposits etc proper identification checks.

CPA model terms and conditions are the best start, but the trouble is enforcing them. The big guys get caught out fairly regularly with fake sites and ID's, what chance does the small guy have? And it's the small guys who will be targeted.

Every man and his dog will be trying to hire out his mini digger in this coming recession. I’d be starting an insolvency practise instead!
I have no intention of hiring my machine out on self drive, but starting an insolvency practice 🤔

i presume you have a yard ,and all the proper hire licenses, lorries o licenses etc ,
insurances ,and you like dealing with halfwits and dullards, and dont mind all your weekends being at the beck and call of said dullards.
remember we can hire mini diggers for peanuts ,good luck

Sorry, thought those prices were what you hire your kit out for out for. You couldn’t hire micros round here for that, be closer to 80 a day.
Don’t worry about it 😌 I Don’t have very good credit for finance plus can’t see the point buying my own machines when there that cheap to hire the majority of the time I just borrow machines but when I do need to hire them there readily available and cheap so that’s how I do it
