Milwaukee batteries

I know all you guys are 'battery mad' on all this gear, but anyone know what these are like
I would have thought an old finger bar mower, a hydraulic motor and the hydrema would be a little more you druid?

Generic Chinese system, sold by a lot of people.

Heavy, lots of vibrations.

Not being funny, but your body isn't getting any younger and you've got quite a plot to maintain. You can't take it with you, so I would invest in something decent and give your body a fighting chance.

Having done half an hour of hedgecutting with a Stihl long reach the other day, and feeling my hands afterwards, I'm changing to battery and damn the cost. Probably Milwaukee, I have tons of batteries and their stuff always impresses me.

If you wish to disregard my advice, I will have a Stihl petrol combi system with strimmer, hedgecutter, rotavator, polesaw, extension pole and lawn edger for sale! Unless I just change that to an electric combi and Sithl batteries. Undecided.
Talking of vibrations, is the electric stuff much better even when using a recipricating tool like the hedge cutter?
I did a couple of hedges the other day with my 2 stroke makita that I put a split shaft on and my hands were buzzing.

I bought one of smallest Stihl pro ones for her to use...it's honestly a dream to use , zero vibes and really light

I recently bought a 4st kit that otherwise looks the same as that. The whole kit cost about the same as a Sthil battery, so you can see the attraction.
The engine (honda copy) sits with the cylinder (spark plug) at the top and the harness attachment is just a collar near the throttle (free to rotate around the boom). The result is it's top heavy and tries to flop off vertical as you move around - it takes it's toll on the wrists.
I bought mine as a low-use tool so I can spend less time up a ladder with a saw - it is achiving that goal.
Vibration hasn't been a big issue and noise from the 4st is almost (but not quite) quiet enough to not need muffs.
The engine is a bit heavy, but you start to need it as you add the last two extensions.
Probably the worst thing about it is the couplings between the extensions - occasionly they slip together first time, but usually it's a fight.

basically my thoughts about acquiring one ... occasional use only  - mostly pole saw and hedge trimmer on a pole (y)
problem with 4st motors for this sort of thing - they're going to be that much heavier, by their very nature, having a lot more components in them :(

First outing for the polesaw, what a tool👌👌
Battery power is so sensible in this kind of tool, no idling, no start up etc. This and my 36v makita groundsaw will probably cover 75% of my tree work.

What batteries do you use in the Makita? I use 5ah but was thinking of getting some 6ah, but don't know if there is much advantage?

I use 5ah. I bought 3 6ah a couple of years ago and have found them unreliable connection wise. So I've gone back to 5s, they're cheaper, last long enough in all my uses and have been more reliable in my experience.

Do Milwaukee do a telescopic hedge cutter, and if so is it any good? I’ve got to replace a Husky one (which is made of cheese, it’s total crap) and was about to invest in the Stihl battery setup but would prefer an excuse to get some red gear…
