I need a new throttle cable for Bomag 30/38 td-3

It’s a meflex control arm and cable but I can’t find anyone who sells meflex stuff retail short of email them in Germany

Or trying generic throttle lever and cable any ideas

What’s the serial number? Bomag have an online parts program
I can’t find it, or don’t know where it would be. Engine has plate etc castings have stamped numbers but nothing that stands out as serial. Where are they usually on Bomag wackers?

No but I’ve the cable and the gear it interacts with so should t be too hard to knock a brass one out

so it's a rack with three detents in the underside and threaded internally one end for the cable?
if you could draw it up - length/dia./ cable end thread and supply the cog that meshes with it (or better still borrow one to copy/get true dimensions from) it'd be quite feasible and not that costly either IMHDO
no little machine shops up your way ??

Druid - The answer to “any little machine shops up your way” is I’m about a mile and a half away from Giles. 😀😀😀

Let’s see a drawing of it. Contractually, I’m only supposed to need to do my ‘Day job’ three days a week now so should start to have a bit more workshop tinker time. It might be something I could knock up. Depends what profile the teeth on the rack need to be.

well that's handy :giggle: .. do you have a horizontal mill Rob .. a suitably profiled cutter would be the main stumbling block to reproducing the rack or could be done on a shaper

I’ll get it from the yard on Monday and give you a bell 👍👌

I made one out of some hard pvc and files and dremel to test it but centrally drilling it without a pillar dril or lathe etc went wrong

Don’t have a horizontal mill but figures since the gear does not pass across the rack just a plunge cut into the rack would suffice. Thought put cutter on a mandrel in lathe and mount the workpiece on the tool post.

Could probably do somthing on my vertical mill if I clear enough junk off it to be able to use it. 😀😀😀.

I don’t have any gear cutting cutters but they aren’t horrendously expensive or could maybe grind a single point tool and use a fly cutter set up.
