I’ve had this machine for 3 1/2 years now, many will be aware I’ve had some trouble with it, an Hydraulic pump failure. But I still think it’s a great machine, it’s small and manoeuvrable, but big enough to do some proper work. I have no regrets buying this machine, I’ll go as far as saying I love it. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to get Komatsu to diagnose the pump failure, rather than getting a local fitter to fix it, that would have saved me a few grand plus a lot of downtime.

I replaced my 3CX with this machine, starting off working on the Gas through Balfours, then moving on to do new Lidl builds 2 years ago.

Here’s a few pictures:

I did get warned that it was likely to happen too, but I thought I could have earned enough to cover it first, but hey ho.

It was originally diagnosed as the fuel pump, then the injectors before the hydraulic pump was diagnosed. The pump got sent to a cowboy outfit in Leeds, who stripped it down and put it back together again saying it was ok, then adjusting the swash plate to stop it sticking.

The pump eventually got repaired properly by CJ Plant at Bromsgrove, and is fine now. I’ve done about 900 hours with the repaired pump now.

Hi Mick I remember you buying it shame it played up but at least it’s fixed now, what do you think of the hydradig as a possible replacement in the future

I think the Hydradig is a cracking machine, I find the access and egress a bit troublesome, but it wouldn’t stop me from buying one. I’d also consider an EW100 from Wacker Neuson, if Komatsu were £10k cheaper, a PW98 would also be on the list.

I rang Kegworth, but they don’t deal in small stuff, so couldn’t help.
