I wouldn’t be happy with that. Did they come from a supplier or direct from a manufacture?
Supplier, I returned 1st batch then they arrived yesterday the same, spoke to my rep who said didn't look right, 3rd lot turned up today the same. Sent the back went to merchant and all intermediate posts were the same!
Called at Travis on way back there's were the same, phoned another local 1 they checked and same.
I just don't get why they are like it, makes no sense

The moulds wear over time. Happens with kerbs all the time. Presumably anything that is formed in the same way

I would say the air pockets are created by air rising to the top of the mould during vibration. Manufacturer that I use makes them the other way up so the air pockets aren’t trapped in the mould.

Slotted concrete posts are almost always like that? All the ones I use certainly are, from 3 local suppliers and Travis etc if I'm forced.
One side nice and rounded, the other rough as.
I always face the smooth side towards the house, never had any problems.

Still shite though sure last ones I installed were tidy on 1 full face. Will try few different suppliers tomorrow, think it's pretty poor quality control, a lot of air pockets in them too which not good during winter when freezing on wet posts

As I said you will find better quality posts, it is to do with which way up they are formed . I will try to find some mould pictures which will explain more clearly.

Well what a week!
After finding decent posts picked up kickboards this morning from same place 1 hr rd trip.
Got all posts up, to wet for the avant as it started to slide so 25 steps plus all the gradients. Started fitting corner post and something was amiss.
Took back out of hole altered depth put back in, something not right. Checked other posts that I'd set a rod off and they were 2.4m not 2.7, fuming an absolute understatement. Back to another hr rd trip then this s**t.
What a week 5 deliveries of posts for 6 posts oh and ordered nails they were wrong too.
Time for a 🍺

had block and beam in similar condition. cracked, chunks missing, bits of bar protruding etc.

Just dont pay for any of them until they replaced and charge the merchies for having to double handle them.

Only way the morons learn not to send shite.

If you were a private customer there's no way you'd pay for them. So I'm guessing most of these merchants are supplying housing associations etc

My supplier has a rough back but the two side and front and smooth and the channels are smooth

(It’s an offcut that’s 2 feet short waiting on a new panel, neighbours side as well)
