Ok so it's not just display etc? Might be worth a jaunt. Less than an hour for me if that.
sounds like it's a good job it's a fair way away from me ... have an attic full of models I'm not allowed to have out :(

I have a few models left here, I probably have the best part of 16 different Tower Cranes both Saddle and luffing jib. A few years back a general model shop gave me a call as they had a collection of 30 crane and backhoe models he offered them to me for £350 so I shook his hand off! After taking some models out for myself I sold the rest on and doubled my money. I would like one of those every month!

We used to run down on a Thursday in TR6's and come back on a Monday afternoon, great times and I was there in 84, 86, 87 & 88 those group C cars were and still are the best racing cars you will ever see and hear truly awsome then there was the Mazda Rotory howling its way round the circuit! The start when they would squeeze 4 cars wide up the pit straight was a sight to behold and seeing the burst out from under the Dunlop bridge and down to Tetre Rouge and then onto the Mulsanne no chicaines then just flat out 245-248 mph through the kink then hard on the brakes for mulsanne corner being down there at night to see the brake discs glowing bright red and the turbos spitting flames out the exhausts god i wish you could turn back the clock. That picture is not my total collection I have added more to it now I have about 85 group C porsche 956 and 962 models On display now.

is that top banner not '85? or am I reading it wrong ???? did every year from '84, but we stopped going when the group C,s stopped racing ....
you describe it perfectly .. made the hairs on your arms and neck stand on end .....
the Kouros Merc.s and the Aston through the pit straight was something else to listen to ...
slept on the boat, both ways, other than that it was wide awake for what we came for .. the 24 heurre du Mans :love:

" i wish you could turn back the clock " you an' me both

had a ferry over one year with the Countach owners club on board ... 11 of 'em cranking up in the belly of the boat, in the morning ... pure music and played with 'em all the way down to Allencon on my FJ1200 ...... grin factor 12 :giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle:

We always went across from Newhaven to Dieppe it was a 3 or 4 hour crossing which actually was enjoyable and all part of the break, then round Rouen and Allencon and on to Le Mans, There were a few Lambos and Gt40's on our crossing to be honest it was nearly all classic cars getting on and off the ferry with special ramps for the really low cars, That Kouros Mercedes was a very special car to me as I knew Mike Thackwell and most of his family back in the the 80's and early 90's he drove the 61 car That 5 litre twin Turbo V8 had some serious grunt, I also met Hans Stuck down there in 88 had a chat about PDK gearboxes and the 962c works cars he was a top works Porsche Group C driver in his day, My mate even got some pictures of us enjoying a pint and chatting with him. Funnily enough I have just found some videos from Le Mans 84,85,86,87& 88 all VHS of course I cant bring myself to bin them!

Was ok but huge uk dealer not there as banned by the organisers apparently over something really petty.really missed him.usually a few big continental dealers come too but they were not there either.one building was full of dioramas which is not my cup of tea either but sure lots of visitors enjoyed them.great to be back anyway after the last 5 shows cancelled,(2 a year).was a cheap day for me for a change as only got a couple of dvds.was lots of construction models too which are hellishly expensive compared to tractors but some lovely stuff anyway.well worth a visit and a day out after lockdown and good to meet and chat with fellow model collectors
