Flat pack kit footbridges

This is a new one for me not having done one before. But wildlife reserve is keen to have a 4.5m span timber footbridge kit form installed. Has anyone done one before? Think they are designed to be assembled insitu but this seems awkward to me- wondering if they can be assembled first before swinging them into position- an 8 tonner would manage this.. thinking just form suitable concrete abutments, swing assembled bridge into position and bolt down? Anything else to be aware of?

Sounds like a nice job , I’d do as you say, assemble on level ground and swing it in

Priced similar but was metal beaver bridge, build abutments and lift on bolt down.

Some do build in situ but faffy compared to building it on the ground on some boards next to the water

Yes think that's the kind of thing. Quoting for it will be interesting- as have no idea how quickly they assemble.

Built a small 1 years ago from scratch no kit but guess was only about 6m long, pretty sure it took us 2 to 3 days .ax cutting everything to size and working above the steam. Edit probably around 30

Thanks. Yes I was reckoning on a day to do the concrete abutments and then 2 days to muck about with the bridge. I hope the instructions for the bridge are better than Ikeas

This firm are local to us. They are farming family who have diversified into bridge making. Not sure on cost but they shipped assembled I think ready to Hiab off. Do council jobs so will know any current regs. https://footbridges.co.uk/

A ‘Cross this bridge at your own risk’ sign either end would sort out that problem

Ive yet to look at the job. But suspect it will be inaccessible to a hiab. But worth knowing about them being made up and delivered as can probably swing it in with digger if needs be.
