so ...... if I read that right, if you spend £3 or more k's worth of leccy, they can only charge you £2074 for the year  ... time to start heating with leccy :unsure:🖕

Someone has written that very poorly it's only ever the national average that is capped which is a pretty poor show tbh.

" Hinkley Point C costs rise another £5bn at least

In May 2022 the cost of building the UK’s first nuclear power plant in a generation was put at £26bn, with a target date for completion of June 2027. Today the cost is estimated at between £31bn and £34bn, with completion not before 2029 and possibly not until 2031.

Those costs are all in 2015 prices. Adjusted for inflation, the new estimate could see costs hit £46bn in today's prices, which represents an increase of about a third in less than two years – or nearly double the initial £18bn budget set in 2015. " that's well over double 18 Bn :oops:

" EDF Energy has released this short film showing what has been achieved in 2023 on the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant construction project "

One of the good (or bad - depending on your point of view) arguments for Thorium reactors is the process DOES NOT result in weapons grade materials.

another interesting idea which has been 'floating' about for pushing 3 decades, lacking in any major development funding to really progress

Looking into solar thermal panels, Has anyone in any recommendations for these?

When we installed the therm flow cylinder we spec’d it so we could add this on later if we wished.

corrections -- £15 ea and has 10 boxes of 10 tubes ... dare say there could be some negotiation for quantity ... in Llanelli sadly

" Solar heat tubes. Approx 48mm diameter x 160cm length. These are in boxes never used. These are priced to sell, do your research, there are used heat tubes on ebay sold for between £20-30. These are priced as follows. Individual tube price £25. Buy 5-10 £20 each. Buy 10 or more £15 each. "

Not much use unless you have a manifold!!

not sure just how they are coupled Shaun, presumably the water flows through the copper tubing?
They are fully sealed. The copper tube inside the glass envelope gets very hot due to the large collection area.
The heat is transferred to the short copper stub which is typically inserted into @TiltyShaun 's manifold (or direct into a storage tank) where the heat is transferred direct to the water.

pretty sure a 'manifold' could be created with a little ingenuity (and some grommets) :giggle:
