Clamp on forks

I appreciate that I am likely to be shot down in flames for this but heho;

What are people’s thoughts on fitting cheap clamp on forks to the blade of a ditching bucket on a S30 hitch tiltrotator for very occasional, relatively lightweight lifting of palletised material?

I can’t justify £1k+ for a set of S30 forks & thought this could work. Obviously don’t want to do any damage and/or it be dangerous.

Thanks in advance especially if you’re not too hard on me!!🤣

Just don't. Even proper built forks are a waste of time on something small enough to run S30, never mind under a tilty also.

Invest in some decent load handling straps instead. I still wouldn't want to be lifting much with the tilty attached, but I'm gussing you have no top hitch?

Cheers @doobin, I suspected as much, just the waft of Scottish frugality must have been blowing in the chilly north easterlies we’ve had this week.

No it’s fitted to a top hitch. I have plenty lifting straps but not the same as lifting & slower than with forks imho.

sadly by the time you add on the weight of a set of forks that'll handle what you want to lift, you're going to be out of capacity, 'fore you start on a small machine :(

Can you get forks for the blade instead?
dare say it'd not be a difficult thing to fab up ... first step'd be finding some suitably light duty forks and work forward from there, but you're still not gonna get a great capacity with the blade - (a) it's the 'wrong' side of the piston and (b) 's gonna be mighty 'tippy'
these were discussed on CEF and I think possibly on here ..... https://www.excavatorforklift.com/ .... https://www.excavatorforklift.com/excavator ... https://www.excavatorforklift.com/media

dare say something less grandiose could be created if you didn't want to be unloading trucks, but simply shifting pallets about at a much lower level :unsure:

then there's this

someone else's take on the problem

About £550 this side of the pond. Not alot on it though and without the weight of a tilty too. Potentially slightly more if turned around towards digger and resting on the blade.

There is a reasonable amount of weight on there, a fair bit more than I was considering!
