Hi all,

Got two very local jobs come in. One a small sandschool, the other a couple of acres of fairly rotten stumps. Considering something like a 655 which I could mount a grapple on also due to the external extendahoe? Sub 10k. Is this a total waste of time or worth a gamble as the two jobs should pay for it? Fancy a larger machine that I can road short distances- I only work locally.

And does anyone have anything suitable for sale? :ROFLMAO:

The very very bottom of the market I’m not sure what old old jcb vintage stuff sells for but we sold a 1995 Terex for 12k last year. 6000 hours plus vat
It would of dug holes and so on but defo not a site machine

Thanks guys, I'm aware that it's a gamble! Just haven't got anything to move a larger machine and haulage is a killer.

Could I get a half decent duck for sub 20k? What's the score with roading them say five miles? No no or doable?

Sold mine a couple months ago unfortunately.

Go for either a Ford 655C/D/675D Or Should you have a little extra cash a FH100/NH75/95/110. I would avoid the older 655's like mine as the cabs are all generally suffering now.

Other option is bite the bullet and get a 7t.... 7t is a far more profitable and usable machine in this day and age and no disrespect intended but it will take a while to learn to get the best out of a backhoe, whereas a 7t you already know how to drive.

As far as I know, CBL still have the sister machine to my TB175 at Saltash. 7k hours but she was quite tidy and had the retrofit hand throttle which is a plus. around the 13k mark.

Yes haulage is a bit of a twat but tbh so is owning a backhoe when people don't want to pay you for the two hours a day your rocking along the road, £250 a year tax plus insurance and new tires

Aa long as it is road registered with number plate, tax and insurance 5 miles is no problem. When I had the Volvo duck we used to road it 100 mile round trip a couple of times a year and that included going through the hindhead tunnel.

That’s a fair run, think the furthest I’ve roaded was about 80 miles. Used to do 50 quite regular.
