Curious to know what people are paying/charging for as dug topsoil? Reasonably heavy stuff but certainly not the worst!

Is that collected or inc delivery?
Collected some last year from boughton loam was just under £20 per t, I'm sure paid similar or slightly less from a place up near Burton on Trent. Local company use to be £15 ish a ton delivered for a full 8 wheel load not had any for a while although someone I know paid 284 including vat delivered for 10t

I’m selling,,l using as much as I can on my own jobs, seeing if it’s worth anything or I’ll double it up in places and loose it 😉
Kept my own stash pile of the best sandy loamy stuff, doesn’t even need the screen!

Here you can't give it away without it been tested, even then it's literally a few quid a ton. That's collect but they load.

Screened, tested topsoil is £8 to 14. And at that they've had to haul it back to their yard first and then run it through screener.

But to buy 1t of it out the local aggregates yard, its £35 a ton.

Yep quite a few around here want it tested before collecting. Mate had a price you dig holes ready prior to works commencing and I think it was £750 for 1 or 2 samples then a cpl hundred more for additional holes

That's easy then, just avoid the old asbestos tip!
What's the required amount of test holes per volume of soil removed?

I'm not sure I just remember my mate saying that for a job he was pricing it would have been 1.5k for the samples

The tips can be really fussy on the type of material they take, not so much about the volume of material but the different types coming out of one site.

On one job we had four different types tested (basement dig in made up ground) and a different muckaway rate for each one and going to different tips I believe.
