Great show - a load of us are going down on a bus on the Friday so we can have a couple of beers - I’d better leave my chequebook at home as it could be dangerous otherwise!!!

We went to the show yesterday. A bit damp to start off with. I’ve never been before, but Mark, who works with me was into forestry in the past so had been a few times and said it was worth a visit. That and a couple of complimentary tickets from Tom at Exc@v8 clinched it. Very interesting gear. I obviously liked the Menzi stand, but there were a lot of good stands.
I’d never seen people climb the poles. 80 feet up in seconds - I was worn out just watching.
In the woods there was a Senniborg handler on big forestry tires with a felling head which looked impressive and a tachuchi with leveliser undercarriage.
It amazes me the size of some of the tractors they use to run chippers. I never realised there was enough money in chip to run, probably £200,000 worth of tractor and chipper and that is before you get something to load it and something to cut it.

A 50% grant helps a lot- especially when you then use the tractor on the side to run digger around with :mad:

What's the grant for?
I had thought a monster tractor would be handy for pulling a lowloader trailer as well.

There's been lots of 50% grants available for foresty equipment. Presume something to do with biomass/renewable energy.

What was the traffic like to get in there.
Seems to be a lot of complaints on faceache.

You got directed right round the back of the estate and there was a fair length queue. Maybe 20 minutes I guess.
Coming out was straight on to dual carriageway, no queuing

These were impressive as well Paul, there were about 10/12 carvers and they had just 30 minutes to turn something out😱, so got to see how they started bulking the bigger sections off, then going down a saw size etc, etc, at the end they auctioned them off, the bear in front of us “won” as it were by getting £210 for it. The bigger ones got auctioned off at 2:30.

It’s the main reasons for going on the last day, you get to see all the finished articles, thinking we might camp at the next one and have a couple of days there. This one got a few laughs😱😂

I don't suppose anyone visited the bandit stand and got prices by the time we got there on Saturday the sales team had given up

I saw the start of some of these when they were basically lumps of tree with some drawing on. Their ideas looked ambitious, but they have turned out incredable. Some really talented people about.
