We got a set of Bluetooth hard hats, they are good. Was working in a noisy place and needed to speak to each other sometimes not in sight. Were good but always wished we went a bit further and got the peltor ones where you can link a few sets together rather than just 2.

These look ok not cheap but probably cheaper than 2 way digital. Just don't necessarily want to wear a headset all day if not needed 🤔

I had a look at this last year and didn't get very far. Are they ear defenders too?

Are the headphones comfortable to wear for majority of the day?

Is the range decent?

Noticed Stihl have just launched a range .

These are the ones the lads I've worked with use:
Sena 10R-01 10R Low Profile Motorcycle Bluetooth Communication System, Handlebar-Remote not contained, Black, universal https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01ARY6O4Y/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_TPV84Z5S8Z9H9SW3WPJW

Basically just take your ear defenders apart and stick the controller to rear of your helmet. Pretty simple.
Do they lose the foam? Wouldn't that then lose some of the ear protection?

I think which type of system would be best depends on what you are wanting to use it for.
If you are after having constant back and forwards conversations then some sort of intercom would probably be best.
If the conversations are only exchanging a few sentences now and again through the dayhand held two way radios might be better.
When im working on site I have a standard hand held ‘walkie talkie’ type radio in my pocket which has a separate microphone/ speaker on a spiralled wire which I clip on my top pocket. It’s easy to hear like this and quick to use one hand to operate to reply whilst still working.
If in the the long term you use two way radios then as others have said get some good quality ones such as Motorola but they ain’t cheep.

If you have any doubts about how useful they will be maybe get some cheep basic radios from eBay first. If you buy say 4 matching ones at a time they only cost about £15 each so you could see how you get on with them without spending too much cash.

If you go for the cheep ones be carful about their frequency for licensing reasons and also make sure they don’t get wet. Rain in the microphone knackeres them.
