Cat 289. One of the problems with CTL’s being able to go anywhere is that sometimes they can’t. It’s worse when the track goes inwards than when they come right off. Not too sure whether the recoil spring has let go. Need to lighten it by about a quarter tonne of mud first.

Mid morning, Mick. Got it back on just in time for lunch. This one has the 10 mm Lexan front door, supposed to be able to stand a shotgun blast, let alone anything that comes flying out of a mulcher, but put a muddy boot on it and it scratches up pretty badly. I haven’t tested the shotgun theory, but I was tempted to try it while the guy who lost the track was inside. They have two red quick-release handles inside the door in case the engine cuts out with the arms partway up. I‘ve lost count how many times I’ve had to put the bloody doors back on when people have got in the first time and couldn’t work out which was the door handle.

I’ve got Lexan back windows in my mulcher tractor, and they do stand up to massive impacts. Bits of wire will occasionally stick in but not get through. However, there is a 50p sized hole through the bottom window and I’ve no idea what it was that hit it!
They are ready for replacing as they do scratch up badly over time - also you can’t have wipers on them so they are not ideal in the rain.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
guy round here hedge cutting a few years ago took a piece of wire ..... in his heart .... didn't even know 'til he got out later in the day and collapsed ... fortunately in company .. hit 3 nines and went off in a blues and twos ride ... and they found it with a scan ... tiny little entry would and piece about 40mm of HT strainer in him .... said he was lucky it didn't go through and exit or he'd have bled out before realising he was in trouble ... matter of minutes ... I do know the bloke but damned if I can recall his name ATM

Perhaps a 50p

Pre Christmas pain. CP44 soil compactor reduction box on the drum drive. I’m thinking a bit of liquid metal and a file and the teeth will be good as new. On the plus side when I find all of the rollers I’ll have a lifetime supply of 13A fuses.

It had lost most of its oil recently, but there was still some in there. The machine is around the 10,000 hr mark. It looked like mud had forced in past the duo cone.
